Switzerland and Austria

We´ve made it to the Alps and are heading back to Munich tomorrow. We spent 2 days hiking different trails throughout and felt at home with all the nature and beauty around us. Once we get settled and I can get the pictures on our computer, I´ll post them on here. I feel like I´m pretty behind with the pictures. We´ve had Oktoberfest, the Black Forest / Rhine River and now the Alps. It´s been a pretty adverturous week for us camping along the way. And some cold nights of sleeping with the little sleeping bags I made for us! Tomorrow night we´re off to Venice, Italy by an overnight train.

Munich, Germany

Hello from Oktoberfest in Munich, Germany! We made it here safely and survived a night at the Oktoberfest grounds. Beer and food are very expensive as expected but the music and atmosphere are better than imagined. Every table was weighed down with people dancing on, singing and raising their beer, just like you picture when thinking about this fest. Josh and I were lucky to find a space on a table next to some others who were from Munich. The next table over was full of Canadians who were celebrating a birthday. Overall, it was so much fun.

We've rented an rv and plan on driving toward the Black Forest and Rhine river tomorrow to camp and hike some. And then onto Switzerland and Austria to do the same in the Swiss Alps. I'm hoping to get some beautiful pictures during the next week. And then I'll get them posted along with some Oktoberfest pictures. Hope everyone is doing well!

Amsterdam, Netherlands

Here are some random pictures from Amsterdam. The first one is from a torture museum tour we did. You can see from the picture behind it what they would do to a person. The next is a condom shop with all different sorts of condoms hanging in the window. Swans in the canal at night, a small amsterdam car, and then Amsterdam city canals. They go throughout the entire city.

Berlin

Wow, it's seems like it's been a long time since I was last on here. Since the last post we've made it to Amsterdam and Germany. Amsterdam was as expected. I'll say Josh and I both feel we never need to go back. It was a good experience being there and beautiful with all the canals throughout the city but overall, it was just another big city and not really our lifestyle. From there we took a train to Dusseldorf, Germany; rented a car and drove to Bremen. We had 3 days to pass before we got to Berlin. During that time we had hoped to drive and see a lot of the country side. From Bremen we headed up to Cuxhaven which was on the north coast of the country. And then headed down to Berlin which we arrived on Friday. We walked through Sauchenhausen which is a "model" concentration camp. Even with it being a model, it was still pretty moving and had a few of the original building still standing. We've now been in Berlin for 2 days, staying with my friend Kevin and his girlfriend Francesca. Today was a great day of walking around the city sightseeing. We're soon heading south to partake in the festivities of Oktoberfest in Munich and then renting an RV to travel around a few more countries, camping along the way. Hopefully I'll get time to post more pictures on here soon.

Paris, France

We made it to Paris on Wednesday and so far have enjoyed walking around the city and finding our way on the metro system. (Train) Language has been somewhat of a barrier to getting around and ordering food/ drinks but overall people here have been friendly and helpful. We did have a an issue of ordering a pizza for 2, they brought out 2 big pizzas. I guess you can just laugh at that and enjoy the leftovers. Yesterday (thursday) we took the metro to the Louve and then walked to the Eiffel Tower. We walked to the second level and took the elevator to the top. Pretty impressive to see the entire city from up there. Today, we're heading to the Notre Dame Cathedral and then going to see the Eiffel Tower at night when they put on a light show on the hour. Tomorrow we're taking a bus up to Amsterdam and plan on spending a few days there.

Ireland Pictures

I'm finally finding some time to post some pictures of our time in Ireland. This site is taking quite a long time to download each picture so I'm going to leave it at this for now. Most of these are from our drive through the Ring of Kerry in southern Ireland. More to come...!

Ireland

We've made it safe and sound! And even better, so did our luggage unlike our last trip. So far we've seen Dublin: Trinity College, Temple Bar, Guinness Brewhouse and a traditional performance of Irish Riverdance at the Arlington Hotel. We've stayed at a pretty nice hostel and a not so nice (actually really filthy) one. I will now admit that saving a few dollars sometimes is not always worth it. Today, Friday the 4th, we drove to Cork and Blarney to tour the Blarney Castle and kiss the legendary Blarney Stone. And now we've finally arrived in Killiarny with plans of tomorrow driving the Ring of Kerry tour and possibly the Killiarny National Forest. I hope to post some pictures within the next few days but I only have 2 minutes left of internet usage. Overall, we're having a great time!
